Potpeć Cave is one of the well-known caves of the region given its monumental 50-meter-high entrance shaped like a horseshoe. This is the highest cave entrance in Balkans.

There is the 555-meter trail for visitors inside that goes over 700 steps through the cave halls. Underground waters form the Petnica river that bursts out of this huge entrance. The average temperature in the cave is 9 degrees Celsius.
The story says that once upon a time, there were two dragons guarding a healing spring in one of the halls. When the spring went dry, dragons turned into stone, they say, and they can still be seen adorning the cave walls.
