The mountain is also an important historical place since this is where numerous battles occurred during the 1804, 1876-78, and 1912 wars. The old border between Serbia and the Ottoman Empire went through here once.
The road from Javor will take you to the famous Uvac or Sjenica Lake with some spectacular views of the river meanders and preserved flora and fauna.
