Dubnica monastery is situated 19 km from the main road and 7 km away from the Uvac or Sjenica Lake. Today’s building is erected at the same spot where an old 15th-century church stood.
The church was the most popular in the 17th century when Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church was Gavrilo Rajić Rašković who came from the local noble family related to the Nemanjić royal dynasty. They say that kids got baptized and couples married here during the Ottoman rule when churches were destroyed and religious customs were forbidden.
