Sultan Valide Mosque

One of the landmarks of Sjenica is the 19th-century Sultan Valide Mosque, the endowment of sultan Abdul Hamid II’s mother. The diameter of the dome is 15 meters and it is built without any supporting columns.
The building is a true witness to the golden era when Sjenica was the center of this part of Serbia as the municipality area within the Ottoman Empire. This is the only royal mosque in Serbia.
