On the way from Užice to Valjevo there stands a church with white-washed walls that pops out of the surrounding landscape. It is called the White Church of Karan, being situated in the village of the same name. It dates back to the 14th century. The church is built in Raška style, popular in Serbia in medieval times.
Besides some interesting frescoes and inscriptions, the courtyard of the church holds another treasure. Stroll around to admire a few well-preserved tombstones from the area of ancient Rome.
